Product Details

A good example of a tabletop wellington chest dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It was most likely originally used as a specimen chest and there are some old bird labels on the side of one drawer but it could now be used to store any sort of collection of objects.

It is a good quality piece with turned wooden knobs, dovetail joints and nicely figured timbers. The chest has 6 drawers in total flanked by two wellington style pillars. The right hand one locks shut to secure the drawers and has its original working key.

It is in good original condition and is certainly a very usable piece. There are some minor signs of age and use and the cabinet has picked up some small knocks and scuffs over the years but no major damages. There is an old repaired shrinkage split in the rear panel but it still displays well. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside and all open smoothly.
