Product Details

A large mahogany framed Cheval mirror dating from the mid 19th Century. The mirror has a square mahogany frame, supported by elegant scrolling arms. It stands on a beautiful serpentine curved base with splayed scrolling feet and its original castors. It has its original mercury mirror plate with the most wonderful sparkling surface and some minor spots of wear and foxing.

The mirror is adjustable and moves back and forth on ball catch brackets. The brass screws and brackets are stamped "Cope & Austin Pat."

It is in excellent condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and knocks and small chips but nothing detrimental and the wood has developed a beautiful rich patina. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
