​Victorian Burr Walnut Piano Top Davenport

A beautiful Victorian Piano Top Davenport made of the finest Burr Walnut. It has a curved piano shaped top which lifts up to reveal a green leather writing surface which can be angled, two glass inkwells and a pen tray. There are two small drawers and behind the right hand drawer is a catch which releases the pop-up top. This contains a series of letter racks behind a beautifully carved fretwork panel.

The davenport is supported by two ornately carved supports and there are four drawers to one side with four matching dummy drawers on the other side. It stands on turned bun feet with small castors below.

The davenport is excellent quality with a beautiful patina and the interior is veneered in the same burr walnut as the exterior.

It is in very good condition for its age. The pop-up action works well, the drawers open smoothly and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks, a few small chips and minor shrinkage splits but no major damages and nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
