Product Details

A good oak chest of drawers dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. They are made of solid oak with a lovely mahogany crossbanded border above the drawers and around the top edge. There are two short over three long drawers and each drawer has brass plate handles and brass escutcheons. The handles are not original but suit the piece well. The chest stands on shaped bracket fee t.

It is in good condition for its age and has developed a lovely warm patina. There are signs of age and use and it has picked up some small knocks and marks, there are some old shrinkage splits in the sides and there have been some repairs and restorations to the crossbanding but nothing detrimental and overall it displays well. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are some signs of historic worm in places which has all been treated as a precaution and the whole piece is strong and sturdy. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
