A good quality mahogany chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. It has good large proportions offering plenty of storage with four long drawers. Each drawer has brass plate handles with matching escutcheons and it stands on bracket feet with a nicely shaped apron. The handles are not original but suit the piece well and have been on there some time.
The chest is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. One bottom handle is slightly different to the rest but it doesn't stand out. There are of course some signs of age and use, some minor old marks and knocks, a couple of old repairs and some shrinkage splits in the side panels but nothing untoward and overall it displays well.
