Georgian Country Carver Chair
A good quality Georgian carver chair dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is a good country piece made from elm and oak with a shaped back splat and curved arms. It stands on square legs joined by stretchers and the chair has a drop-in rushed seat pad.
The chair has been well used and has developed a lovely rich patina. It has been well looked after and maintained over the years and as such has some good old repairs but it is strong and sturdy. There are some signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks and old splits here and there but nothing detrimental. There are some signs of historic worm in places which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
The chair is a good large size and comfortable to sit in. It stands approximately 37" (94cm) high and is 26" (66cm) wide across the outer arms. The seat is 17" (43cm) deep and approximately 16" (41cm) high.
