An original Victorian Watercolour depicting figures by the River Okement set against the backdrop of beautiful Dartmoor hills. Signed and dated to the lower left corner "W.Williams 1885".
It is framed in a good quality gilt frame with a mount that compliments the painting.
It is in good condition and displays well. There are some small blemishes and minor marks but nothing untoward or detrimental.

William Williams (1808-1895) was born in Penryn, Cornwall but lived in Plymouth for the majority of his life before moving to Bath then Torquay and finally to Topsham. He ranks alongside many of the important Victorian painters and exhibited between 1845-1876 including on 31 occasions at the Royal Academy.
