Complete set of opticians lenses dating from around the turn of the century. The set is fitted within a lovely mahogany case and the lid is lined with bright blue silk with 'Curry & Paxton' logo in gold. There are 156 optical lenses in total testing both short and long sighted. Each lens in engraved with the prescription, ranging from + 0.25 to +20 and -0.25 to -20 There are also two plain glass lenses and 3 black lenses for testing one eye at a time. The set comes with the original testing glasses which the lenses drop into. There is also a wooden ruler for taking measurements of the eyes.
The box itself measures approximately 17" wide by 10" deep and 3" tall. Each lens is 1 1/2" in diameter.
It is a lovely set that displays beautifully. It is very original and has a great look to it. There are no damages to report of the lenses and the box has a rich aged patina. However there are some small tears in the blue silk lining (see photos).
