Product Details

A good quality miniature apprentice-made walnut chest of drawers, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is a charming piece with four long drawers, each with turned wooden knobs and a decorative crossbanded border. The bottom drawer is full depth going below the moulding to the very bottom as was often seen on full size Victorian chests. It is very well made and each drawer is beautifully made with hand-cut dovetail joints and the whole piece stands on four small turned bun feet.

It is in good original condition and the wood has a wonderful rich patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and open smoothly. There are some general signs of age and use, some minor marks and light knocks and small losses to the cross banded edges of the drawers but nothing detrimental. There are some minor shrinkage splits in places but overall it displays very well.
