Product Details

A lovely antique desktop inkstand dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of walnut with an ebonised carrying handle and ebonised pen trays and it stands on small bun feet. It comes with two glass inkwells with brass tops which, although aren't original, suit the piece well. There are two small doors below which open to reveal an unusual fitted interior with two shelves, perfect for storing papers or envelopes. There is a registration plaque here which reads "Registered Feb 21 1877. No.5902" and it comes with a working key.

It is in good condition throughout and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. There are some small signs of age and use, a few minor knocks and marks but nothing detrimental or untoward. There inkwells are in good order and the hinges on the doors are strong. There are a few small shrinkage splits on the feet but they are strong and sturdy and overall it displays well.
