A good example of a Victorian Torsion Galvanometer by Siemens Bros, a sensitive scientific instrument used to detect and measure weak direct electrical currents. The cylindrical glass and brass framework is set on a mahogany platform and it has a brass plaque engraved with the serial number 16937.
It comes in its original fitted box made of stained pine with a brass carrying handle. It also comes with a small amount of paperwork and a letter from Siemens Bros dated 1896.
It is in very good condition for its age and there don't appear to be any damages to the instrument. I have not tested its accuracy or function and it is being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument. The box is clean and tidy and the whole piece displays well.
