Product Details

A good quality antique specimen cabinet dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. The cabinet itself is made from pine with its original stained finish and it stands on a plinth base. It has 6 drawers, each with small turned wooden knobs.

The cabinet would have originally housed a collection of butterflies or insects and each drawer is paper lined. The drawers would have had sliding glass covers and the grooves are there so they could be easily replaced if desired.

It is in good original condition and is certainly a very usable item. There are signs of age and use and it has picked up a few knocks, scuffs and marks over the years but nothing untoward and it has a good aged patina. There are some minor marks, stains and small holes in the paper linings in the drawers but in general the drawers are clean and tidy and they all open and close smoothly.
