Victorian Silver Desk Stand
A good example of an antique silver desk stand, complete with a pair of glass inkwells and a central candlestick. It is a stylish and good quality piece set on a solid silver base with a gadrooned rim and ball and claw feet. The inkwells have hinged silver lids with beautiful cut glass bodies and the candlestick comes with its original removable sconce.
It is very well made and each piece is fixed to the base with a threaded bolt and screw. Each separate item is hallmarked including the tray, inkwell base, inkwell lids and rims and the candle.
The hallmark is for London, 1897, Josiah Williams & Co. The weighable silver is approximately 280g plus the inkwell lids and bases.
It is in good condition for its age with no major damages. There are some signs of age and use, some faint surface marks and a small dent below the rim of the candle sconce (see photo) but it isn't detrimental and the whole piece displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.
