Product Details

A good satinwood writing table dating from the late 19th Century. It has two drawers, each with brass handles and it stands on turned tapering legs with its original brass castors. It is an elegant looking piece and the top has an inset deep blue leather writing surface with gilt tooled edge. The wood has a lovely warm colour and a beautiful grain across the front of the drawers.

The desk is in very good condition for its age and the leather surface has a nice patina. There are some minor marks and knocks and signs of wear and use but no major damages. There have been a couple of shrinkage splits repaired around the top (see photos) and there are some historic signs of worm in the back of the desk which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside having been lined with blue paper at some point. The desk has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
