Victorian Satinwood Pedestal Desk
A lovely Victorian satinwood desk dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has brass knobs and each pedestal has a plinth base with castors below. The top of the desk has a lovely brown leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
It is a good quality piece and the Satinwood has a wonderful rich colour and beautiful grain.
The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks and light surface marks but nothing detrimental. There are a few repairs to the veneer around the bases and some old shrinkage splits that have been filled. The desk has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
