Product Details

A good quality writing slope dating from the early to mid 19th Century. It is made from rosewood with recessed brass military style carrying handles and an ornate brass border with matching escutcheon and brass cartouche.

Inside, the box is fitted with a lovely green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with a removable pen tray, a stamp slope and a pair of brass topped inkwells. The top and bottom section of the writing surface lift up to give extra storage space below and there are also two small concealed secret drawers which spring open when the wood below the inkwell is pushed.

It is in very good condition for its age and it comes with a working key. The wood has a lovely rich patina and the interior is clean and tidy. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks and a couple of old repairs but no major damages and it displays beautifully.
