Product Details

A nice example of an antique aneroid wall barometer dating from the late 19th Century. It is cased in a bulkhead style mount with glass covering the face. The face reads in inches from 26 to 31 and has the makers details on the front "Fisherman's Aneroid Barometer. Issued by the Royal National Life Boat Institution. No 2967. Negretti & Zambra London".

It has a black arrow pointer which reads the pressure and a gilt arrow which can be adjusted from the screw in the middle to mark the current pressure and read the change. There is a ring on the top of the case and the bottom for hanging or screwing the barometer to the wall.

It is in good condition for its age and it has been lightly cleaned to retain the original patina. The glass is clean and has no major surface scratches. The face has some age spots and flecks of dirt on it and there is some wear around the outer case but nothing untoward and it displays well. It appears to be in working order. I've done 'the bag test' and the pointer moves as it should do.
