Product Details

A good example of a small globular match holder with a solid silver rim. The holder itself is ceramic with a rough finish to enable striking and the hole in the top is to store the matches. It also has a flag on the side with some enamel detail.

The silver rim is hallmarked for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings, Chester, 1897. The hallmark is slightly rubbed but still distinguishable.
It is in good condition for its age. There are some small dents and surface marks on the silver rim and general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
