Victorian Mahogany Writing Table by Edward Winter
A superb mahogany writing table dating from the mid 19th century. It stands on turned reeded legs with an arrangement of 5 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has its original turned wooden knobs and the middle drawer is stamped with the maker's details "Edward Winter. 14 Cranbourn St. Leicester Sq". There is a raised shaped gallery on the top and the legs terminate in the original brass 'Cope & Collinson' castors.
It is in very good condition with a beautiful rich patina. The table is strong and sturdy and the drawers open well. There are a few marks and stains on the top surface, some light scratches and surface marks and general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It displays beautifully and has been gently cleaned and waxed and is ready for use.
