Product Details

A good quality Georgian style partners desk dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is made from mahogany and has an arrangement of nine drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has lovely flame drawer fronts and brass swan neck handles. On the opposite side are three matching faux drawers and two faux panelled cupboards, mimicking a partners desk. This design means that the desk looks good facing out into a room as well as against a wall.

It is a good quality piece and the top of the desk has a beautiful red leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. Each drawer is constructed with finely cut dovetail joints and the whole piece stands on brass castors.

The desk is in good condition for its age with a lovely rich patina. The drawers open smoothly and the interiors are generally clean and tidy with just some minor old ink stains. The leather writing surface is in good condition with a few old marks and scuffs but nothing detrimental. There are of course signs of age and use with some light knocks and marks, small chips and a couple of old repairs but nothing untoward and the whole piece is strong and sturdy. The desk has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
