Victorian Mahogany Gentleman's Vanity Box
A fine example of a Victorian gentleman's vanity box, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. The mahogany box has a brass escutcheon and matching cartouche engraved C.R.D. and it comes with its original working key.
Inside the box the lid is lined with black leather and there is a sprung loaded mirror below the lid. It has two glass vanity pots, a lidded storage compartment and a leather cover with sections for holding brushes, pencils and other items which lifts out to reveal a lower storage compartment.
It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use, some light wear to the leather interior but overall the piece displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and polished and it is ready for use.
