Product Details

A lovely mahogany library chair dating from the late 19th Century. It is a good comfortable chair and very well made with a cane seat. It has an attractive shape with a curving back supported by nicely shaped splats and two scrolling arms. It stands on bulbous turned legs joined by turned stretchers. It makes a lovely desk chair but would also be a nice library or hall chair.

It comes with a shaped feather filled cushion to fit the seat and the arms have been upholstered in matching fabric. The rear of the seat is stamped with the maker's initials RR.

The chair is approximately 31" (79cm) high and the arms are 25 1/4" (64cm) wide. The seat is 20" (51cm) deep and approximately 17" (43cm) high.

It is in good condition for its age and it has developed a lovely patina with a rich colour. There are signs of age and use and it is not without a few small marks here and there but nothing detrimental or untoward. There have been a few small repairs here and there but it is strong and sturdy. The cane is in good order and the chair has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
