Victorian Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers
A lovely mahogany chest of drawers dating from the mid 19th Century. Excellent quality and very well made with a rich flame mahogany patina and an attractive bow-front. They are a nice small size standing on turned feet and each drawer has brass drop handles with pierced backplates. The handles are not original but suit the piece well and match the brass escutcheons.
The chest of drawers is in good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. The oak lined drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are some signs of historic worm in the base of the bottom drawer which has been treated as a precaution. There are of course some signs of wear and use, some minor marks and knocks and a couple of repairs on the top surface (see photos) but nothing untoward or detrimental. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
