A good example of a beautiful coromandel wood box dating from the mid 19th Century. It has brass bound edges, an inlaid brass escutcheon and matching cartouche and inset military style brass handles.
The interior has been relined in green and two sectioned trays have been made and there is an additional sectioned storage area below. Each level has sections that are graduated in size. Perfect for a collector's box or jewellery box.
It is a good quality piece and it's in very good condition for its age. There are some minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and the wood has a beautiful colour and patina. The lock has been changed at some point but it does come with a working key. The interior is clean and tidy and overall it displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
