Victorian Ceramic Owl Lamp Base
A lovely example of a novelty figural lamp in the form of an owl. The owl is well modelled with glass eyes and it stands on a naturalistic base with green leaves and flowers. It is a really fun piece with lots of character and it dates from the 1880s with a registration stamp below.
It would have originally been made as an oil lamp but has later been converted to an electric table lamp. It has been PAT tested and rewired to modern standards to take a standard bayonet bulb (bulb not included).
It is in good condition for its age. There are some signs of age and use and there are some chips and losses to the leaves on the base (see photos) but no major damages to the owl itself and the whole piece displays well.
