A good example of a large wellington chest dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is a fantastic quality piece with burr walnut fronts and walnut sides. The chest has 8 drawers in total, each with turned wooden knobs and dovetail joints. There are two wellington style pillars and the right hand one closes over the drawers and comes with a working key to lock them shut.
It is in good condition for its age and it has a lovely rich patina. There are some signs of age and use and the chest has picked up some small knocks and marks over the years and there have been some small repairs to chips in the veneer here and there overall it displays well. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
