A beautiful antique desktop inkstand dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of walnut with ebonised mouldings and ebonised pen trays. It is embellished with ornate brass studded mounts and the carrying handle is stylised as a serpent. It has two large glass inkwells on the top and a drawer with brass knob in the bottom.
It is in good condition throughout and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. There are signs of age and use, a few minor knocks and marks around the outside and a couple of small chips and losses to the ebonising but nothing detrimental or untoward. I'm not sure if the inkwells are original but they suit the piece and fit the holes firmly. They do not have any tops or lids.
