Victorian 3 Piece Silver Tea Set
A fine example of an antique silver tea set comprising a teapot, milk jug and twin handled sugar bowl. All three pieces have bulbous bodies profusely embossed with flowers and foliage, the teapot with a bird finial to the lid and ivory spacers to the handle, all raised on palmette feet with c-scrolls. The milk jug and sugar bowl both have gilt lined interiors.
Each piece is hallmarked for William Hunter, London, 1854. The quality is superb and the silver is a good heavy gauge with a combined weight of 1594g.
The whole set is in very good condition and displays beautifully. There are signs of age and use, some faint surface marks and small dinks but nothing untoward. There has been a repair to the base of the bird finial and it is not fully upright (see photo) but otherwise there are no major damages. The set has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.
