Small Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers
A small mahogany chest of drawers dating from the late 18th Century. It is excellent quality and very well made with a lovely rich patina. It has four long drawers, each with ornate gilt brass swan neck handles with star shaped back plates and matching escutcheons. The handles are not original but suit the piece well. The drawers and the top have a decorative boxwood strung border and the chest stands on ogee bracket feet.
It is in very good condition for its age. The oak lined drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are some signs of age and wear, some minor old marks and knocks and a small shrinkage split in the top but nothing untoward and they are strong and sturdy. The chest has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
