Product Details

A good example of a small windsor chair dating from the mid 19th century. It has a low hooped back enclosing tapering spindles and a pierced back splat. It has a shaped elm seat and it stands on ring turned legs joined by a crinoline stretcher.

The chair is in good original condition and it has developed a lovely rich patina where the stain has worn attractively on the seat and the arms where it has been handled. There are signs of age and use, some light marks and knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental and no major damages. There are some minor signs of historic worm in places which has all been treated as a precaution. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

It is a small size, probably made originally as a small ladies chair. The chair stands approximately 33 1/2" (85cm) high, the seat is 13 1/2" (34cm) deep and 15 3/4" (40cm) high and arm to arm the chair is 18" (46cm) wide.
