Small Antique Oak Pedestal Desk

A lovely oak pedestal desk dating from the early 20th Century. It has nice small proportions with an arrangement of 7 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has its original brass swan neck handles and each pedestal has a plinth base with castors below. The top of the desk has a good quality pale grey leather writing surface with a tooled edge.

It is a good quality piece with nicely chamfered drawer fronts flanked by incised lines. The desk is well finished on all sides so could suit being in the centre of a room as well as being against a wall.

The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has a lovely rich colour and the drawers open well. The bottoms of the lower drawers have been replaced at some point and the inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy. There are some normal signs of age and use, a few minor knocks, light surface marks and a couple of minor old shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental. The desk does not come with any keys. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
