A good example of a small English Oak Coffer dating from the mid 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet with a flat top. It is a simple plain design and has never been over-carved. It is generally clean and tidy inside with its original floor and it has developed a beautiful rich patina over the years.
It is in good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. The hinges have been changed at some point in its life and there have been some small repairs and restorations over the years but nothing untoward. There are some signs of historic worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected it structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
