A good example of a sterling silver pyx box for carrying consecrated communion wafers. It has a a gilt interior and a hinged lid which is engraved with the Christogram IHS to represent the name of Jesus Christ.
It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1955 and the maker Edgar Ernest Davis. It weighs approximately 32g.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are minor signs of age and use and a few small surface marks but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and displays well.
