Regency Tea Caddy
A fine example of an early 19th Century Tea Caddy. It is made from an unusual fruitwood with a burr wood cross banded edge. It has two brass lions head handles and a bone inlaid escutcheon. The interior has three lidded compartments with turned bone handles, cross banded edges and chequer strung borders. The interior of the lid is lined in a nice old black velvet. Unfortunately the box is missing its mixing bowl but it is still a lovely box nonetheless.
It is in very good condition for its age. The inside is clean and tidy and the exterior has a rich patina. The linings inside the caddy compartments have worn over time and there are some signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
