Product Details

A fine example of a beautiful sarcophagus shaped rosewood box dating from the early 19th Century. It has boxwood stringing, brass handles, a brass escutcheon and small bun feet. Most likely to have once been a tea caddy box it has now been relined with a beautiful fitted tray with blue velvet lining and matching marbled paper. The tray lifts out to reveal an additional lined storage area below. It has a mirror under the lid and it comes with a working key.

It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use, a few small marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. The side handles are not original but suit the piece well and overall it displays well. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
