A good quality mahogany sideboard dating from the early 19th Century. It has two short drawers over one long drawer and below are two cupboard doors enclosing a shelved interior. It has an attractive curved front with square columns flanking the drawers and cupboards.
It is a good quality piece with lovely rich timbers and beautiful inlaid ebonised stringing as decoration. The drawers have brass knobs and it comes with its original working key for the cupboard doors.
It is in good condition and has been gently cleaned and polished. There have been a few small repairs over the years including to a split on one cupboard door (see photo) and there are of course signs of age and use and some minor surface marks and some light knocks and scuffs but nothing detrimental.
It is possible that it started life as part of a larger piece of furniture but has been a sideboard for some time and nonetheless displays beautifully.
