A good example of a large hand blown glass cloche dating from the late 19th Century. It most likely originates from France and would have been used in gardens to shelter and propagate seedlings. The hand blown glass has a wonderful weathered surface with natural irregularities, small bubbles and a faint aqua tint that machine production cannot replicate. It is a particularly large example with a wide base and a lovely hand formed glass knob on the top.
It is in very good condition for its age with no major damages. It has been lightly cleaned and is ready for use.
