Product Details

A large and excellent quality oak stationery box dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of oak with a domed top and it is adorned with arts and crafts style brass hinges and carrying handles. It has a bramah lock and comes with its original working key.

The lid lifts up to reveal a series of leather mounted pen holders below the lid with decorative gilt borders and a retailers stamp for "Pearce & Sons, Huddersfield, Leeds Leicester". The front then folds down to reveal the inner letter racks, small drawers, a pen tray and inkwells. There is also a circular leather calendar and writing slab. The front folds out again to provide a writing surface with an inset leather with gilt border and this section lifts up to provide extra storage.

It is in excellent condition throughout and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside but no major damages. There is some minor wear to the leather writing surface and some other general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental or untoward and overall it displays very well.
