Large Antique Japanese Lacquer Table Cabinet

A large and impressive Japanese lacquered tabletop cabinet dating from the Meiji period. The cabinet is adorned with ornate engraved metal hinges, strapping and corner pieces and is decorated with traditional gilt scenes of birds and foliage. It has a carrying handle on the top and the doors open to reveal 5 drawers inside the cabinet, each with a delicate metal handle and decorated with images of foliage and leaves. There is also a small cupboard within with an additional two drawers inside. The cabinet comes with a key which locks both doors in place and the interior door as well.

The cabinet is in good condition for its age. There is some wear to the lacquer in places and minor chips and losses and some small shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental or untoward. The hinges are in good order and the drawers are generally clean and tidy. The metal work is slightly tarnished in places but overall it displays very well.
