A beautiful antique french mirror dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is known as a margin mirror with an additional set of angled mirrors around the main mirror creating a cushioned border. The gilded frame has an egg and dart border with ornate floral corner pieces and an ornate scrolling top piece.
The mirror is a particularly large size and would be suitable for use as a mantel mirror, wall hanging or free standing.
It is in excellent original condition. The gilding is clean and bright and the mirror has a sturdy boarded back. There are some old spots of wear and foxing on the mirror plate giving a nice aged look whilst not detracting from the mirror itself. There are some minor knocks and small losses around the frame but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully.
