A large Elm pestle dating from the 19th century. The pestle itself is beautifully turned from a single piece of wood with an applied handle which is nicely shaped. It has a rich natural colour and has developed a beautiful patina through many years of use. It is particularly heavy so as well as being a lovely decorative piece it also makes a great door stop.
It is in good solid order with no major cracks or damages. There are some minor marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
