A lovely set of large brass scales dating from the late 19th Century. The scales are made of brass with brass pans and they are set on an oak base. The beam is marked "Class 1. Agate Balance. To Weigh 2lbs". They come with a set of 5 graduated brass weights.
The set is in very good condition and displays well. The brass has tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor marks but nothing detrimental. Although complete, they are really being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
