A beautiful antique dessert set by John Ridgway dating from the early to mid 1800s. There are 8 dessert plates, a large comport, 2 oval footed serving dishes and 2 rectangular serving dishes. Each piece is decorated with hand painted flowers surrounded by beige borders with gilt highlights. It is a good quality set with beautifully shaped borders and pierced cut out details. Every piece has the John Ridgway backstamp.
The whole set is in good condition for its age. There are a few small chips on the back of a couple of plates and there has been a repair to the foot of the comport (see photo) but the set still displays beautifully. There are some light surface marks and some wear to the gilding in places but nothing detrimental.
