A lovely Hornby Meccano Train set in its original box dating from the 1940s. It is an early electric example with an LNER 2900 engine in green livery. It also comes with two Shell Motor Spirit tankers, a green Southern 6T wagon and another open wagon. There are 3 pieces of track and a small buffer section.
The whole set is in good original condition and although playworn, it has clearly been well looked after and loved. There are various small losses to the lithographing but nothing major and small patches of wear and rust but nothing detrimental or untoward. The wheels are all in good condition and each coupling is in good order.
The set comes in its original fitted box with a colourful paper label. The box is sectioned inside for each part. The box is quite worn with many scuffs, marks and wear to the corners and edges but overall it displays well and is fairly sturdy.
