A large Georgian oak Settle dating from the late 18th / early 19th century. It has a gently sloping panelled back with beautifully shaped arms and a thick planked seat. It stands on small bracket feet and there are three large drawers contained within the base, each with its original handles.
It is a lovely quality piece with a wonderful patina and the sides and rear of the settle are also panelled.
The settle is in good condition and is strong and sturdy. There are of course signs of age and use, some knocks and light marks, some wear to the handles and minor old shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental and the whole piece has a wonderful patina. There are some slight signs of historic worm in the drawers which has all been treated as a precaution. The settle has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
