A good example of a Georgian mahogany Tallboy or Chest on Chest dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is a good quality piece with dove-tailed drawers, dentil cornice and nicely shaped bracket feet. The lower section contains three graduating drawers and the top section contains two short over three long drawers, each with their original brass swan neck handles. The two sections do split to make transport easier.
This impressive piece is in very good condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and has developed a lovely patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly. It has been well maintained over the years and as such has some small repairs in places but nothing detrimental. There are some minor signs of age and use and some small surface marks and knocks but nothing major and overall it displays beautifully. There are a few signs of historic worm in places which has all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically.
