A lovely example of a Georgian patch box dating from the late 18th Century. It is enamel and has a white lid with a wonderful motto "How much to be prized and esteem'd is a friend on whom we may always with safety depend".
The bottom half of the box is a pale pink colour and the interior is white with a mirror under the lid
It is in good condition for its age but unfortunately there are some chips around the outside (see photo) and some crazing internally. There are a few old age spots on the mirror but overall it still displays nicely.
