A good set of antique balance beam scales dating from the early 19th Century. The beam is steel and the pans are made of brass suspended by green cord. They also come with a pair of small brass weights marked 2 / 16 and 5 / 8.
The scales come in their original black painted metal box with a section for the weights.
The whole set is in good condition and displays very nicely. The box has a few small dents and marks as to be expected. The scales have tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. T
he whole set has been cleaned and lightly polished and are ready for display.
