George III Serpentine Mahogany Chest of Drawers
A superb example of a George III period Serpentine chest of drawers. It has three long drawers, each with pierced brass plate handles and it stands on bracket feet. It is an excellent quality piece with solid mahogany lined drawers, book-matched flame mahogany drawer fronts and of course the beautiful serpentine shape. Since photographing, the inset brass escutcheon for the bottom drawer has been sourced and fitted.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. It has developed a beautiful rich patina with no major damages. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. It has picked up a few small knocks and marks and there have been some veneer repairs around the drawers. The handles are not original but do suit the piece well. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
