Product Details
A superb oak cantilever Haberdashery box dating from the early 20th Century, used as a countertop display in a shop to sell Clark's 'Anchor' stranded cotton. The box has four cantilevered sections and a hinged glazed lid. The front is inscribed in gilt 'Clark's Anchor Stranded Cotton for Embroidery'. Each level is divided into sections and contains many bundles of different coloured thread. There are three brass knobs on the front of the box to aid with opening - while holding the bottom one to steady the box, the top one can be used to open out the cantilever mechanism.
It is in excellent condition for its age. The cantilever mechanism works smoothly and the inside of the drawers are clean and tidy. The wood has a nice aged patina with no major damages, just a few minor knocks and marks.
